A Declaration of War
“There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”
- Warren Buffett, In Class Warfare, Guess Which Class Is Winning, NY Times
By Gregg Wall (8-8-2026)
Warren Buffett said it best, the billionaire class has been waging war against America and humanity… and winning… for a long, long time. As such, the American people, indeed humanity, have not just a right, but a responsibility, to do more than defend themselves but should go on a counter-offensive.
This war is not always fought in the conventional or traditional military sense… although if we examine the militarization of ICE, the American police & surveillance state, the world’s largest prison/slave labor industrial complex… military forces are used against the American people as well. But rather, this class warfare is often fought from a wide variety of asymmetrical fronts, most often economic, and by our employers, healthcare, via the corporate MSM and schools, and by our own government’s fiscal, monetary, and public policies. Note, the battle is largely one-sided. We essentially are under attack in our body, mind, and soul, continuously. It’s the necro economy. Resistance is futile or so the billionaire class would like us to believe.
Most lethal however are economic policies, our livelihoods and professions, and the economy itself. War is waged via data sets, spreadsheets, in AI, actuarial tables, the statistics forever recited to the public like GDP, growth, the number of jobs created (which are largely meaningless and do not measure economic wellbeing for the vast majority of the population). The war is waged by something as mundane as tax policy.
Let’s drill down, Our World in Data states that 37 million people have died fighting in wars, since 1800, excluding civilians killed and mortality from hunger and disease because of war. This places deaths from war at roughly 165,000 annually. By way of comparison, The Lancet Global Health places deaths at 500,000 from economic sanctions. Not a shot fired in anger, but rather, the stranglehold the United States places upon economies around the globe, via trade embargos, freezing assets, cutting off healthcare, destroying the economy and livelihoods. See Cuba and Gaza by way of example. Those most often affected are brown, impoverished, and children. That’s 165,000 that die annually due to military conflict, versus 564,000 deaths caused by economic violence waged on nations because they do not bow down to United States diktats or surrender their land and natural resources to Western multinationals and oligarchs. For every person who dies by a bullet or bomb, 3.42 die from economic policy. And that excludes the highly lethal and predatory economy, economic policies, healthcare, and public policies that Americans face daily.
More close to home, what’s the difference between Mark Carney’s economic policies and Mr. Buffett’s open acknowledgement in the NY Times, that the wealthy are waging open warfare against humanity. Just today, Team Carney rang the bell because 75,000 jobs were created, but lacking from this data set was any indication as to how many of these jobs pay a living wage, what the government considers to be a living wage, how many of these jobs were gig, how many of those employed were underemployed. We do know approximately half the jobs were part time, with the other half being full time.
Moreover, Canadian and American citizens are conditioned to believe politicians have our best interests at heart, when nothing could be further from the truth. The political machinery and the corporate MSM wants us to love our political leaders and project onto them our dreams, wishes, and desires (despite the fact that for the overwhelming majority living standards, real wages, and the purchasing power of the dollar are in decline). While the people Messrs. Carney and Trump truly serve… the aforementioned Warren Buffett and Company… grow richer, and richer.
Consider again, my proceeding point, that economic and energy policies, classrooms and the curriculum we are taught, our healthcare systems or the privatization of same, the conditioning and indoctrination that we are surrounded by… all can be and are collectively more deadly than standing armies.
American economic sanctions… that Five Eyes nations play an economic, strategic, and tactical role in implementing (see Canada) … are designed to push the public in a target nation, out of desperation and fear, to overthrow their very own heavily armed governments. These economic sanctions are often portrayed as a peaceful, positive way to deal with problematic regimes and push regime change. But as the numbers demonstrate by the Lancet, economic sanctions are anything but peaceful and are quite often most lethal and savage. Think of all the years, the West was told that Israel was in the right, fighting forces of terror against all odds, and think of the pictures and videos that exposed Israeli hasbara and lies on social media, since October 2023.
Think of the children murdered in Gaza, simply by withholding humanitarian aid and healthcare (under economic sanctions).
And the final point, how exactly do you measure an economy based upon a Mafia State, private equity theft, billionaire looting and crony contracts, catastrophic debt and deficits, financialization & Wall St (which often celebrates macro and micro trends that are damaging to the real economy and sound government), and colonialism and war crimes. We know the establishment metrics, GDP and growth, measure each dollar spent on the aforementioned, as contributing to GDP and growth, in the same manner a farmer grows an apple or an orange and sells it. No distinction. GDP and growth ignore completely immoral acts that often do tremendous harm to the economy, humanity, labor, and social cohesion. GDP and growth conveniently don’t subtract or eliminate monetary transactions betting on speculative derivative products, Wall St laying on bets that juice the price of gas and oil into the stratosphere. There are no GDP and growth deductions for the monetization and profiteering from endless wars, genocide, and violence, Epstein banking transactions, a private equity bust out, M&A, Wall St. bailouts and welfare for the rich… it’s all included.
So, as we can see, even the establishment’s preferred statistics and metrics of choice are a lie and deeply harmful to society, along with its economic policies. The public is told by the establishment’s mouthpiece, president, or PM… look GDP and growth are up, thanks to this war I manufactured, thanks to the nation’s credit line being robbed, thanks to the latest billionaire bailout, or currency manipulation… the public needs to accept this as prima facie evidence of economic success and move on. That’s the framing provided by the political duopoly and state run MSM. Except it’s not a success, it’s gaslighting, it’s fraud, and these metrics are false. Economic growth is highly disingenuous when we consider growth, gains in real GDP, most often translate into incredible wage and wealth inequality; and this “growth” transfers directly into the bank, corporate, and trading accounts of the kleptocracy, the oligarchy. These false gods, GDP and growth, particularly when they measure so much of what is wrong with the economy and are presently presented as the sine qua non of economic achievement, fail to measure: the erosion of democratic norms in exchange for oligarchy; the suppression of aggregate demand as financialization concentrates wealth into the hands of a predatory few. Aggregate or headline GDP and growth do not make a distinction between financialization, the real economy, and economic policies that spawn the breakdown of society. When leaders lean on GDP and growth -- while failing to acknowledge and ignoring flashing economic and societal warning signs -- these heads of state contribute to making divide and conquer so much easier to execute, and often deliver fascism, the rise of fear, hate, and scapegoating.
GDP and growth fail to acknowledge a burning and collapsing planet, and the economic and energy policies that gave rise to a planet in flames and underwater.
